Academics

Early Learning Center

At SCS, we know that a child's first school experiences set the stage for his or her entire academic career. Our Early Learning Center program is designed to give students a joyful welcome to the world of formalized learning! Each classroom is staffed by a degreed and certified early childhood educator and instructional assistants, who understand the nature of young learners and are able to provide much more than simply a daycare experience. We believe that students should be exposed to a strong academic foundation, while maintaining a developmentally appropriate emphasis on learning through play.
Our Early Learning Center functions as an extension of the SCS main campus, following the same annual school calendar.  The ELC school day runs from 8:00am - 3:30pm each day, with limited after-school options for PreK-2 and older.
Hi, I’m glad you’re here!  The SCS Early Learning Center is a safe and fun place to learn and play!  I love the constant activity and smiles throughout each day.  Our excellent teachers and staff keep our students engaged in age-appropriate activities and tailor those activities to match individual developmental needs that include everyone in the process of growing and learning.

Our ELC is fully licensed through the Maryland State Department of Education Office of Child Care and offers classes for 6 months of age to PreK-4.  Chapel is one of the highlights of the week where Infants through PreK-4 children gather to sing and worship Jesus, pray, hear an age-appropriate message, recite Bible verses, and receive awards for super work and being caught looking “Just like Jesus.”  PreK-3 and PreK-4 students also have the opportunity to weekly enjoy P.E., Library, Music, and Art.

Your child will experience the love of Jesus in a fun, safe, and caring environment.  We’d love for your child to learn and grow with us!

    Age Eligibility

Age is a factor used to determine admission for students entering our Early Learning Center programs in order to maintain compliance with the State of Maryland Office of Child Care and Maryland State Department of Education for kindergarten readiness. Our experience has shown that children in these age groups are generally more successful academically and socially when these guidelines are followed. Additionally, students enrolling in a PreKindergarten class are expected to be toilet trained.
