Salisbury Christian School educates students from all over the Eastern Shore. To support our families residing outside of the Salisbury area, we provide daily bus routes to and from Dorchester County, Sussex County, and Worcester County, for students PreK-4 and older. Every morning and afternoon, our Sussex County route makes stops in Laurel, Seaford, and Millsboro; our Dorchester County route stops in Mardela and Cambridge; and our Worcester County route stops in Berlin.
JagClub: After-School Program
JagClub is an extension of the SCS school day, providing care and interest activities for students in PreK-2 through 5th Grade until 5:30pm each day. Students in JagClub will be provided with a snack, engage in age-appropriate interest-based activities, and enjoy free-play both indoors and outside on the playground until picked up. Pre-registration and pre-payment are required on a monthly basis or for the full year; we are unable to accept unregistered, drop-in attendance as space is limited and spots will be filled on a first come, first served basis.
SCS is indeed accredited and state-approved, and we work hard to maintain that status. The Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) works in tandem with our U.S. regional accreditation agency, the Middle States Association of Colleges & Schools (MSA), to ensure that Salisbury Christian School remains organizationally healthy and committed to excellence in education.
SCS is an indepedent, nondenominational school, so we are not tied to any one church. In fact, our students represent more than 115 Eastern Shore churches. We find our unity in the redemptive work of Jesus Christ on the cross and in our common purpose of striving to glorify Him in all we do.
Early Learning Center class sizes are regulated by the Maryland Office of Child Care, ensuring a safe and appropriate child-to-staff ratio; visit our Early Learning Center page to learn more. Kindergarten through 5th grade classes are typically capped at 24 students. A typical class size, however, is 18-20 students. In addition to the teachers, every PreK and kindergarten class includes an instructional assistant and 1st through 5th grades share instructional assistants between grade-levels. In our Upper School (6th through 12th grades), class size ranges from 6 to 26 students, depending on the level of the course and the student interest expressed.
Age is a factor used to determine admission for students entering our Early Learning Center programs and Kindergarten, in order to maintain compliance with the State of Maryland Office of Child Care and Maryland State Department of Education for kindergarten readiness. Our experience has shown that children in these age groups are generally more successful academically and socially when these guidelines are followed. Additionally, students must be toilet trained to begin Pre-Kindergarten 3.
Infants: 6 - 17 months Toddlers & Twos: 18 months old by September 1 of current school year PreK-3: Age 3 by September 1 of current school year PreK-4: Age 4 by September 1 of current school year Kindergarten: Age 5 by September 1 of current school year.
The SCS Guidance Department begins working with our students in kindergarten, consistently guiding them to be focused on their future after SCS. This encouragement leads 98% of our students to pursue college immediately after graduation, while the remainder pursue a career or enter the military.
SCS students in kindergarten through 12th grade are required to wear uniforms Monday through Thursday of each week; PreK students are not required to wear uniforms. The SCS uniform includes a logo-ed polo shirt and black, khaki, gray, and navy pants, shorts, skirts, and skorts. On Fridays, students may wear any SCS shirt with jeans.
Lands' End serves as the official provider of all logo-item uniform pieces for SCS. Uniform "bottoms" must be "uniform-style" but may be purchased from any retailer of your choice. To purchase items, visit our school-specific ordering site.
We dearly value our students and their safety. So much so, in fact, that we have created this School Safety Summary that provides a comprehensive overview of the various safety and security initiatives employed by our school in recent years.
