SCS Grads UpLiFT

The story is clearly a God-ordained one: three SCS grads with three unique skill sets and three different post-grad journeys, joining together to lead one local ministry.
“Serving alongside two people I’ve known my whole life, seeing God move in their lives, and seeing them grow into exactly who God has called them to be has shown me a whole new side of God’s faithfulness,” shares Mary (Brumbley) Foster [2016].

Mary currently serves as the Worship Experience Director and Office Manager of Salisbury’s LiFT Church, partnering daily with fellow SCS graduates JT Spadin [2014] and Aaron Brumbley [2014], who serve as the church’s Youth Pastor / College Site Pastor and Outreach & Small Groups Pastor, respectively.

“It's like that quote, ‘Do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life,’” shares JT. “It doesn’t feel like work because I get to do it with two people I love. I grew up at the Brumbleys’ house, and they are the reason I got involved with church. God really knew what He was doing putting these people in my life while attending SCS.”

Aaron and Mary are siblings, while Aaron and JT have been best friends for years. However, their paths to LiFT’s ministry have differed, with both Aaron and JT claiming to have run from God’s call for a period of time. “I didn’t know God could use screw ups like myself,” says JT. “But I learned that God simply wanted me to progress in following Him, not perfect it.” JT, Aaron, and Mary were all mentored and guided by Drew Freyder, LiFT Senior Pastor, in their journeys to full-time ministry.

All three SCS grads have also returned to Salisbury Christian to serve on occasion. “It was great coming back to the halls where I was probably asking the same questions and going through similar situations students are now,” explains Aaron. “I still don’t have all the answers, but I have hope and it’s great to be able to share it.”

“[Going back to SCS] is crazy,” shares JT. “It’s like walking into the past and seeing the future… I get to walk into my past where I grew up with great friends and had deep roots in my faith, but I also walk the halls looking at the future – future businessmen, businesswomen, pastors, worshippers, and followers of Jesus. It gets me excited knowing what has come in the past from SCS will also continue to come in the future. People who can, and will, make a difference.”
